The term literati was first used to describe a certain type of person over four hundred years ago. The word has carried overtones of infamy, respect, and condescension, being variously used to describe archenemies and staunch allies alike. Indie is a much younger term, being first used in the 1920s for a particular style of filmmaking. These two words are separated by centuries but brought together by common cause. Until mainstream thought and culture reflect high ideas of truth and beauty, the indie literati must stay alive to save the world.
The Indie Literati is three individuals who place themselves under this manifesto and within this movement. But it is just as much about you as it is about them.Welcome to the Indie Literati.
This is a very, VERY cool idea. And potentially dangerous to my time and money. But we’ll see how it goes. At least I’m old now. Maybe that will help temper my enthusiasm for digging in too deep…

Hello,
You’ve mentioned All Songs Considered on you blog before and we thought you or your readers might be interested in our poll.
All Songs Considered wants its listeners, not the critics to choose the best albums of 2007. Was it Radiohead’s In Rainbows, or something more off the radar like Loney Dear’s Loney, Noir? We want to know what you think.
